Is the black spot just to the left of the prominent crater the shadow of Opportunity as it approaches the landing site? |

yes, shadow of the parachute. In theory, there should be a tiny fuzzy dot to it's left that is the shadow of the lander itself, but I've never been able to convince myself I could see it...
