They just love teasing don't they? I haven't heard much from Chandra since launch, will be nice to see what they've found.

That's actually a very remarkable find! Not only will this provide valuable ground truth observations for what has until now been a strictly theoretical set of processes, but we should be able to find others now much more easily.

I thought we know of a few black holes much closer than that.

As for "young", IIUC the age does not have any effect on black hole's physical properties.

This is an interesting result nevertheless: another, more direct confirmation than BHs do form in some supernovas.

Re "young": Well, yeah, but AFAIK this is the first time that we've witnessed the birth & much of the immediate post-creation history of a black hole (during which presumably it reaches an equilibrium state with its surrounding environment that lasts for eons afterward), so from that viewpoint it's an important set of observations.
