I need some input for something I'm working on.
What one thing - movie, mosaic, map, annotation, Pancam-graffiti - anything - is you favorite UMSF MER related 'thing'. The most popular, with 21 and 22 thousand views each, are http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...st&id=13309 and http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...st&id=13308 What's your one (or maybe two) absolute favorite things at UMSF? There is just so much . . but I'd like to mention a few personal favourites. I'll describe them first, then add the links when I find them.
First mention goes to the endless cylindrical Homeplate pan by James Canvin/Andy G. This is a panorama presented as panoramas should be, and I'll never tire of plugging it. Unfortunately it is still the only one of it's kind as far as I know. http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...st&p=103348 Now a couple of more overtly artistic contributions. A piece of impromptu collaboration by several members resulted in an APOD of Meridiani sands and clouds in October 06. But there was also a version with no gap in the sky by Astro0. I saved that one too. http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...ost&p=72424 http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p...ost&p=72053 We often overlook the fact that we have NO nighttime pictures of the Martian landscape - for obvious reasons. But 'being there' means being there at night too, so a special thanks to Stu for having a go with Victoria at night. I've chosen the one without the moons. silent_night_s.jpg ED: Not having much luck getting a working link to that one. I've no idea which thread it was posted on but I'll keep looking.

silent_night_s.jpg ED: Not having much luck getting a working link to that one. I've no idea which thread it was posted on but I'll keep looking. I'm beginning to understand why I couldn't find the proper umsf location where Stu posted that image. Searching through his posts for October 06 I found that he posted it on the Duck Bay thread at 10:38 pm on Oct 11. Now when I go back to the Duck Bay thread I find that there are no posts after 26th September. |
