I think there always was a NASA website and A JPL website for each mission, with the JPL site being the best for users like many of us. I hope that the JPL site is down for an update and will come back.

I hope that the JPL site is down for an update and will come back. Phil Thank you Phil. I'm afraid that there will be no longer two sites for each mission: these new ones include features from the old JPL sites such as the whole "raw images" sections. ==>> However, good news: the maps are back! Links: - Curiosity: https://science.nasa.gov/mission/msl-curiosity/location-map/ - Perseverance: https://science.nasa.gov/mission/mars-2020-...e/location-map/ With best regards, and thanks again for sharing us so oftenly your nice work ==>> And many thanks also to the JPL contributors who feed on a daily basis these two great Mars rover sites, packed with useful info for the media |

Yes, the maps are back and the Mission Updates can be found at
https://science.nasa.gov/mission/msl-curiosity/stories/EDIT: The URL changed again. It is now (2024APR27) https://science.nasa.gov/mission/msl-curios...cience-updates/ Curiosity drove again on sol 4159, about 12m, to its weekend location. Thanks much for the updates - here's hoping the 360 panoramic mosaics come back as well that we've been seeing regularly until recently.
I filled out a couple of request forms on the website to inquire if there are any plans with the mosaics with the redesigned website. Possibly the "Multimedia" section is still being worked on if they could add more of what was there before. UPDATE (April 21) - I found this link that will show the Curiosity mosaics though they only go up to Sol 4132, possibly the time of the redesign. I had downloaded up to Sol 4139 from the original website and additional ones may have been posted there as well. https://science.nasa.gov/mars/resources/?types=mosaics -------------------- Steve [ my home page and planetary maps page ]

Did you know? "The Martian Way" KML file includes the Curiosity Mars Clock. It is automatically displayed when the file is loaded and can be recalled at any time by selecting it from the left menu. The clock displays the coordinates and the Local Mean Solar Time (LMST) at Curiosity's current location. Sol "zero" starts at the local "midnight" of the landing sol. The clock's date and time computing algorithms are based on information of the Mars24 Sunclock from NASA/GISS, available at: http://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/mars24/Fernando _____________________________________________________________________ The Martian Way files can also be downloaded from: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1OJH...BbQ?usp=sharing Included are "The Martian Way" KMZ file, User's Guide, and MSL Orbital map of Gale crater. |

A short (under 10m) v-shaped drive on sol 4169 to allow Curiosity to dip its wheels in the channel and get really close to the ridge. Curiosity went weekend driving!
On sol 4176 it moved further south and up, a little over 42m, and now we can see what is around the ridge-bend.
