I need some input for something I'm working on.
What one thing - movie, mosaic, map, annotation, Pancam-graffiti - anything - is you favorite UMSF MER related 'thing'.
The most popular, with 21 and 22 thousand views each, are

and

What's your one (or maybe two) absolute favorite things at UMSF?

Catching the first dust devil. Then the major cleaning event on Spirit! It created so much happiness. There was an image by Erwan, I think, about "Martian Car Wash" with a "happy alien" face which summed it up for me. Too bad that image isn't there anymore, but it's still a great moment in the MER journey.
Dammit, I can't find it searching for some reason, but Ant103's UMSF BBQ montage is surely worth a mention.
I'd vote for mhoward's Spirit Reprojected Drive movies, from http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=4382 thread.

Ingenious reconstructions... roving never felt better.
Second that; Tesheiner's work here has been absolutely outstanding!
Should also mention Juramike's painstaking analyses of the surface of Titan; it's a privilege to watch his mind at work exploring PhD-level hypotheses.
Definitely need to add Gordan's ring plane crossing animations from http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=3776&hl=ring+plane+crossing. (Note: His links seem to be down; temporarily, I hope.)
The El Dorado dust devil trail movies from the http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=3199&st=75
For example, from slinted's post #80:
http://www.lyle.org/~markoff/collections/eldorado_924_961_969_980_992.gif
I'll second the mention to the UMSF BBQ. Here's the link to the thread with the final version: http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=2921.
And, yes, Astro0 was the one who "sweated" doing the work.
Another image that comes to mind is one from the time when Spirit was reaching Husband Hill's summit. We were eager waiting to see the other side of the hill one day or another, and suddenly it appeared. The whole horizon was visible and a nice DD too! Let me search for that image too...
... did it! Here's the thread: http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?showtopic=1301 and the mosaic I'm talking about is http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1301&view=findpost&p=17765. I'm pretty sure Nico (Nix) has/had a really beautiful version too but the links are broken.
I agree with the BBQ and Tesheiner's route maps and I'll add a panorama of the El Dorado dunes made by Dilo...have to look for it...and also the view from the top of Husband Hill into the inner basin...priceless...don't know who made it...
I'm saddened by the most popular pictures this is apparently what ' the public' finds really interesting: flippin' aliens! or do you think they would have seen it as the fun it was intended?
The route maps are some of my favorites. And I think the Hayabusa thread certainly deserves a mention!
The debunking of the standing water story and the 'man' pebble were also some good thinking in action
Read the first post again guys...MER. There's amazing stuff in other areas, but I'm after MER stuff in here
Yeah - we got Digg'd or Slashdotted or something with those images.
Doug
I'll second - or maybe seventh - the Tesheiner route maps.
Phil
There is just so much . . but I'd like to mention a few personal favourites. I'll describe them first, then add the links when I find them.
First mention goes to the endless cylindrical Homeplate pan by James Canvin/Andy G. This is a panorama presented as panoramas should be, and I'll never tire of plugging it. Unfortunately it is still the only one of it's kind as far as I know.

Now a couple of more overtly artistic contributions. A piece of impromptu collaboration by several members resulted in an APOD of Meridiani sands and clouds in October 06. But there was also a version with no gap in the sky by Astro0. I saved that one too.

We often overlook the fact that we have NO nighttime pictures of the Martian landscape - for obvious reasons. But 'being there' means being there at night too, so a special thanks to Stu for having a go with Victoria at night. I've chosen the one without the moons.

ED: Not having much luck getting a working link to that one. I've no idea which thread it was posted on but I'll keep looking.
I'll gladly join the chorus of "Aye" for Tesheiner's route maps.
That's rather unusual - can you cite more details - i.e. post numbers, thread numbers etc?
Doug
Oooh, that's a tough one... I definitely bow down in a Wayne-esque "We're not worthy!" way before Tesh for his route maps, and Olivier's colourisations always make me shake my head with wonder, but I have to say that personally Astro0's SFX images have always made me sit back in my chair and let out a long breath, just because they always give me a "sense of scale" shot. Out of all his images, this one - actually a collaboration, looking at the footer - is my all time UMSF MER fave...
I must say I agree on most of what is said. Eduardo's route maps are a must, and I hope we'll have much more of these.
To a be bit different, I love self portraits, specialy Oppy's.
..and for sure the Everest pano. I agree regarding getting to a summit and discovering what lay on the other side. It's what Exploration is all about.
I think Ustrax and I both were carried away by the romance and mystery of this Inner Basin Portrait:
Shaka...can I hug you?!
That's the one...a whole new world ahead...who thought it would be possible?
http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1906&view=findpost&p=33810, and http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1906&view=findpost&p=33822, and maybe http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1906&view=findpost&p=33926 also comes to mind...
And Doug...the El Dorado image I was talking about looks like it is actually yours...http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=1906&view=findpost&p=33958!
