I've made an anglyph of images from Sol58. There appears to be a change in rocks on top of the larger rock in the center of the images. If I'm reading the names correctly they were taken 66 seconds apart. Let me know what you think.

The only difference appears to be that they are images in different wavelengths.
Your first example appears to be a combination of: L2 (infrared) - http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all...55P2437L2M1.JPG R7 (far infrared) - http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all...55P2437R7M1.JPG Your second example appears to be a combination of: L7 (ultravialet) - http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all...55P2437L7M1.JPG R1 (ultravialet) - http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/all...55P2437R1M1.JPG So that seems to explain the different look of the rock (and all the other rocks). Note that the rock outline is the same in both images. -------------------- - Lars

After looking at the L2/L7 images more closely, it appears that the weird look in L2 is due to a smaller rock of different composition is sitting on top of a a larger rock.
I have attached an image that explains... -------------------- - Lars
