http://www.interactiveoceans.washington.edu/visions11/live

These guys are streaming live exploration of hydro-thermal vents from off the west coast of the USA.... and they're happy to chat via http://twitter.com/#!/VISIONS11ops whilst they're doing it.

It's utterly thrilling...I ended up taking screenshots and stitching them into mosaics smile.gif

I've been having fun with their video feed - grabbing frames and stitching them when I can. Some almost worked as a push-broom when they're moving ROPOS on a longer traverse. I've even managed an anagyph or two. I wont fill up UMSF with it all, but I've attached a few, the rest I'm posting on twitter ( twitter.com/doug_ellison )

Wowah! This is awesome!

They will be visiting the "International District" sulfide vent complex today at 11:30 PDT. I'm definitely tuning in!

I just found a second underwater streaming video site! rolleyes.gif (Exploring Ancient Shipwrecks! ) laugh.gif
Follow Dr. Robert Ballard and his team as
they explore the ocean on the E/V Nautilus.

Current Status
In port in Bodrum, Turkey until Wednesday.
They have 3 or 4 active streams, but since they are in port there is no active underwater feed.

This video provides some of the near future plans and tenative plans for 2012 - Q&A with Dr. Ballard
