Steve, I can confirm that the line of sight from New Horizons to Jupiter in early 2007 was in the direction of Sagittarius. There are lots of globular clusters there.

The globular cluster seen on the image is M9, a ~8 magnitude globular cluster on the constellation of Ophiuchus, close to the Saggitarius constellation.
