It's hard to call it "lumpy" but yes, the surface isn't so flat |

Do these "ghost" craters provide the opportunity to look at the deepest rocks? Below certain level, there is no exposed rock, except in the "rimlets" of these craterlets, so I think that these small craters will show the deepest (and hence the oldest) rock layers. |

And a crater, which was not mentioned before (or at least I didn't see it was) - according to the tracking site this is called Waco and I think it's the little crater NE of 878 position. In 3D it looks surprisingly deep. Btw. tosol (884) is also a driving day! :-) CODE 4. What EDRs did we request? Did anybody notice the mottled soil in this one? Have we seen this kind of thing before? I don't remember. This look like a bedrock under a very thin layer of dust/sand |

About the problems with seeing 3D with anaglyphs - as someone said, the pancam channels are too wide apart, but the real problem is with the way of generating the anaglyph. IMHO the read and blue channels should be aligned perfectly in the center of the image to make a good anaglyph. I have trouble seeing real 3d with some images posted here - I see double. But when I take those "bad" anaglyphs and do some rough align in photoshop, the results are unbelieveable - especialy with this color anaglyph from james (10x!) |

Well, ignoring the dust buildup and battery recharge capacity, about 7 months from now (or 200 sols, if my math is correct) the solar exposure will be around tosol levels with lowest on august 6th Another OT: in Starry Night Pro a martian day of 24.656944 hours works much better than the wikipedia value of 24.622962 |

Can someone put this into PHP I believe the stack overflow is due to attempting to put 80,000 bottles onto a single wall. Either youv'e got to have the Great Wall of China involved, or we're going to have a stack overflow Doug 99 bottles in PHP and 99 bottles of beer in more than 900 programming languages :-) |

A view into the drive direction. Taken on Sol 792 with the L0 navcam. jvandriel Is this frost? If it is, can it do some dust cleaning? When the frost sublimates from the solar panel may be it can carry some dust particles with it? |

And something more - given the vertical profile of the area, it is thought, that the evaporite layers at Victoria are of the same depth as these in Endurance, unlike those at Erebus, which are much higher. So even if Oppy reach Victoria, it can turn out, that there's nothing new in terms of geology (but the pictures will be awesome :-)) |

According to Starry Night, NCP of Mars is about 8 degrees north of NGC 7000 (North America), very close to the stars HIP 104516 and HIP 104345. The SCP is very close to HIP 45063, about 2.5 degrees from Kappa Velorum. |

Don't think it's dangerous - the road ahead is with progessively less sand as the ripple becomes lower, so Oppy will be on bedrock in the next meter or so... |

For everyone, who missed the eclipse: http://www.PhotoServer.us/is.php?i=82003&i...rEclipse.gi.gif (1.1 mb animated gif) The partial solar eclipse as seen from Sofia, Bulgaria. 41 frames, each is 1/2000 sec, f/7.4, ISO 200 with HP Photosmart 945 and Baader AstroSolar filter. The morning was cloudy, during the eclipse the weather was fine, and again the sky is full of clouds, so here we were lucky :-) |

QUOTE (jamescanvin @ Sep 30 2005, 07:14 AM) Edit: Just to add some useful information the UHF antenna is the much smaller one on the left (in that image) of the rover deck. You're wrong - this is the dust collecting magnet. The high gain antenna is to the right of the LGA, between the center and right solar panels and pointing somewhere to the horizon. |
