UMSF 2014 Survey - Jan.19-Feb.2, 2014 - Link to Survey
On 8 February 2014, Unmanned Spaceflight.com reaches a significant milestone – 10 years of 'exploring the solar system and beyond from the comfort of home'. In the past decade, the goals of robotic missions have become more ambitious, fast access to spacecraft data has become almost common place and the capabilities of UMSF members to process images and discuss the minutia of mission activities has continued to develop. The Administration and Moderation team continuously monitors members' contributions and how they reflect upon and shape the direction of the Forum. Maintaining a high 'signal-to-noise' ratio has always been very important and in general has been kept at a very high level. With that ongoing goal in mind, the UMSF team would like to take the temperature of the Forum by asking its members a few questions. We are inviting all members (active and lurkers) as well as guests (readers only) of UMSF to complete the following survey via Google Docs. Your comments and results will help us know how we are currently performing and how we might develop in the future. Thank you for your assistance. The UMSF Administration and Moderation Team Please note: The survey is not collecting names or email addresses. All responses and comments are confidential. Statistical data and comments will be compiled to help the UMSF team to assess and develop the Forum. A report on the survey will appear at a later date. |

I STRONGLY encourage all Forum users, registered or unregistered, to complete this survey, and all credit to Astro0 for pulling this together.
The admin/mod team is determined to keep UMSF a valuable and, yes, entertaining resource for all indefinitely, and we really do want to know what you think to help us do that in the best ways we possibly can. The results will not be used to directly influence policies, but they will definitely be valuable inputs for the current and any future directions of our community. Thanks for your help! -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

Just one week to go for the survey to collect responses. Thanks to the 100 or so members who have completed it so far. Long time members, it's important that we hear from you. Casual visitors/lurkers/guests, we really want your responses. Please take the 10 minutes or it will take you to answer the questions and add any comments. Thanks for your support of the Forum as we approach our 10th anniversary. |

Fellow UMSFers, PLEASE don't forget to take this short survey. The admin/mod team really does need your feedback to keep UMSF the premier site in the world for discussion of robotic exploration!
Heck, I even took it. My only comment was "nprev is great!", but that should come as no surprise… Anyhow. This small investment of all your time would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

Alright gang, we're getting near the finish line here! If you haven't completed the survey yet, please take a moment to do so, and please speak your mind freely. (Hint: "nprev is great" is NEVER a wrong answer! ).
Seriously, though, the admin/mod team does want to hear your compliments, complaints & suggestions in order to plan for the Forum's second decade. Good news here is that we probably won't do this again until 2024, but that also means that this is a pretty rare opportunity…so let 'er rip!!! Thanks! -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

Filled it last week. But I'm wondering if there are people like me who normally just bookmark and read a particular forum or topic (eg Mars). I occasionally have a look at the main site so caught this. But many people, even frequent readers/posters, may not be aware of the survey.
I'm not sure how to make it more visible, though. Maybe a reminder posted in the most popular threads (eg MSL)? |

Hmm. Good point.
I'm not at all savvy about the mechanics of the Invision power board, but hopefully one of the far more knowledgeable members of the admin/mod team will have an idea. Thanks for the suggestion, sir! -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.
