I combined normal and thermal pictures of the MAHLI and gained such curious effect.

Those aren't thermal images, but depth maps (created as part of merging a stack of different focus distance images). So what you see are the "heights" of the objects.

Some white balancing:

Sol 150 brushed rock

Looks like small bubbles in the surface analogous to the larger ones seen in the area?

APXS also took a reading:

Features look pretty similar to those near the lower left corner of this Sol 137 image close to the "larger-bubble" region.
Just an example of the pseudo-hexagonal dendritic (snowflake-like) structure seems to be missing on the brushed rock surface.

...and also, there is a nice optical illusion in this picture : a "glassy" sphere !
(in fact, it's a small depression with a bright element in the middle that's making the illusion of the Sun's glint...).
Enjoy ! smile.gif

Some close-up (there are others) to investigate the interior of the "bubble" in more detail.
Scratches created by the brush, also visible in the image, might be used to infere the hardness of the rock.
Btw.: The image looks, as if brushing had been continued.(probably a misperception from magnification)

... @iMPREPREX: exciting gif!
