I almost hesitate to post this, but I thought some here might find this article interesting. I came across what seems to be a very well written article describing the basic engineering considerations that went into the selection of the mission architecture for NASA's return to the moon. I am not an expert on such things, but I learned a lot about the kinds of considerations that go into mission design from this piece. According to the author, technology has not advanced enough to trump Isaac Newton. Hence, the new mission architecture will look much like Apollo.

I understand that this may be a bit of a controversial topic for some. I don't have a personal opinion regarding the best way to go from the Earth to Elsewhere. I only wanted to post the link in case others would find it informative. My apologies if it has already been mentioned.

CosmicRocker, I found the article to be very interesting. It explains in details about many aspects related to going back to Moon. Worth reading for someone who were born before the man landed on Moon.
