Hi.
I've tried the Linux x64 version on Ubuntu 11.10 and works beautifully, with one exception: it doesn't load any path with a folder name that contains non ASCII characters. I.e. "~/imágenes", "~/облики", etc. The error description is "An image could not be obtained from the file." |

Thanks for the report Fran. I've passed on the bug to our HiView developer. I believe the QT toolkit libraries HiView is built on top of all support unicode, so it's likely a problem in the hand off from the gui to the backend file loader, I think.
I have one question, and a couple of things that you might try as work-arounds 1) Were you loading the file from the file chooser (from the file->open dialog)? 2) If you were using the chooser, what happens if you drag and drop one of these files from a file manager? (Nautilus or konquerer) 3) What happens if you try loading the file via a terminal prompt? For example, change directories in a terminal window to the directory containing the file that you want to open, and then launch HiView with the file name as an argument. eg.( $ /path/to/HiView/HiView <your_file>) Hopefully, one of these options will at least get it working for you right now, while we work on fixing the bug. |

1. Yes.
2. Same error (with Nautilus). 3. From gnome-terminal (encoding set to UTF-8), no error, loads. |

Did the drag-and-drop option in HiView stop working for anyone else recently (last week or so)? I keep getting error messages like this one, without exception:
QUOTE Could not connect to the JPIP server. HiView works fine for me. I had this problem last year and got help from someone on the team -- hopefully you can fix it in the Preferences under the File menu:
QUOTE > the HTTP_to_JPIP hostname should be set to hirise-jpip.lpl.arizona.edu. Sometimes this gets blanked out.
> > Just changing 'hirise-pds' to 'hirise-jpip' in that link makes it work. -------------------- My website - My Patreon - @elakdawalla on Twitter - Please support unmannedspaceflight.com by donating here.

Strangely, that hostname had indeed gotten blanked out. Thanks.
