Unmanned Spaceflight.com _ Private Missions _ Worldview 2 Launch

Posted by: nprev Oct 8 2009, 06:00 PM

Scheduled to go on a Delta II @ 1138 PDT, 1838 GMT from VAFB. Stream from ULA http://www.ulalaunch.com/DeltaII_WorldView-2.html.

*Suggestion: Should there be a dedicated launch coverage thread? Much hardware going up lately (mostly commercial), but everybody still loves the show.

Went off just a few minutes late due to a 2nd stage battery issue, approaching SECO 1...now! Stepped outside & watched it go in the distance, very cool. (GOTTA see a night-time launch!)

Uncanny -- that's *exactly* what I logged in to say (prompted by the same launch.) I guess it's that spaceflightnow.com's coverage that leads to watching more launches.

Edit: speaking for myself only, of course; I'd have missed a lot of recent launches if I hadn't noticed them coming up on that site. Not untypically, Arianespace has an email alert system which manages to be less than perfectly helpful in catching A5 launches... unless it's just me of course *)

Spacecraft separation. Looks like a perfectly nominal flight, another one in a row for the ULA team. Congrats to all involved.
