I think you can just start to see over the crater rim at the far left of this pic. It's much more noticable if you look at the next image in the pan.

Looks like we might start to get a good view soon!

Image processed from L456 [RGB] raw images taken by Spirit on Sol 55:
I can't wait to reach Bonneville. I bet there's some really interesting geology down there. That impact probably punched a hole right through all this basalt to the original crater floor. I suspect we'll study this crater right up until 90 sols and the end of the mission. What more could there be to find in Gusev Crater? Nothing interesting I'll tell you that.
Wow! Gusev is amazing; so much less rocky than Chryse or Utopia!
Juramike - seriously - a more than 5 year old dead thread resurected for a single RGB comp that we've probably all got via MMB + Slinted. What the heck were you thinking?
Not to mention how off topic it is:
Sol 056 - no
Big - no
B'n'W - no
Pan - no
People had been talking about a retrospective. Too soon?
I find it impossible to bring myself back to the feelings and expectations of that time. Unbelievably so much has happened since.
Timewarping a thread isn't a retrospective.
Well Juramike, I appreciated the effort
Makes up for some slow days five years from now when Spirit gets stuck in a sand trap.
As an Admin team - we DON'T appreciate it, so please do not encourage it.
[Deep breath, everybody]
For something I'm working on, I wanted to find an image that captures the "Mars-ness" of the terrain.
I dug back into the early Pancam images, and tried to find a picture that has a large filter set and an acceptable horizon view for my needs. I processed it up, and figured I'd post my efforts here.
This seemed to be the best place to put it, since it was taken on Sol 55.
If it offends anyone, let me know and I can remove it.
(Am I the first person in trouble for posting a picture of Mars?)
-Mike
No - this is pure inappropriate thread resurrection, nothing more, nothing less. For those unable to grasp that - the thread is now closed. Juramike needs to learn some basic forum etiquette and frankly, apply a bit of common sense, before posting.
