NASA Internet Software Zooms To Moon Images In 3-D Lunar Highlands. Moffett Field CA (SPX) Oct 27, 2005 Internet users can now take virtual 3-D trips to nearly anyplace on the moon, thanks to a NASA program first designed to show aerial views of the Earth. The newly expanded NASA 'World Wind' computer program can 'transport' Web users to almost anyplace on the moon, when they zoom in from a global view to closer pictures of our natural satellite taken by the Clementine spacecraft in the 1990s. World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there. Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara. To download the program World Wind 1.3 Click here 53 MB (basic edition) Enjoy flying to anywhere only close to Earth... up to Moon... Only by now... Rodolfo |
