Press release from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, http://www.cfht.hawaii.edu/en/news/NewDwarfPlanet/

QUOTE
An international team of astronomers have discovered a new dwarf planet orbiting in the disk of small icy worlds beyond Neptune. The new object is roughly 700 kilometers in size and has one of the largest orbits for a dwarf planet. Designated 2015 RR245 by the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center, it was found using the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope on Maunakea, Hawaii, as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS)."

Large elliptical orbit 34 AU to 120 AU. About 700 years to complete orbit. Perihelion in 2096.

MOD NOTE: With the exception of the first two posts, the discussion has been less about 2015 RR245 per se than it has about a hypothesized undiscovered major planet. Accordingly, all other posts have been moved to the extant thread that was created for that topic.

A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

for any interested , the orbital data for "2015 RR245" is in HORIZONS
The spice kernel is for only 201 years but at this point using just a single date for the orbit would work

see the spice section of Celestial matters forum
