Very interesting work, Ted; congrats to you, Phil, and Steve, and thanks for posting this here!
It's tempting to think of Triton as a "cryo-Io" in some ways, if your hypothesis that the south polar area's geology is generally representative rather than unique turns out to be correct. -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

The south polar terrain is frost covered, but the terrain types seem fairly consistent on the approach side as well.

Understood. My interpretation was that you were implying that the south polar cap of Triton may be a thin veneer--N2 rime?-- rather than a major geological influence on the terrain like the Martian caps are.
