A short drive SW to the edge of the next outcrop - from here we can turn south and east again to get to the Pahrump Hills.

Update to Sol 753. Easy and accurate thanks to the circular view on this Post.

Two closeup maps showing the recent activity - the maps are both north-up, not the orientation as seen from the cameras.

Update to sol 787. I don't know whether to put the name 'Gilbert Peak' on the plateau south of us or on the base of the hill, so it may get moved.

I have updated the map to sol 790, correcting a bad position for sol 787 (I was working from a partial panorama, and when a full pan became available (Thanks, Jan) it was easy to fix the problem).

No drive to report today, but I added some recent target names, and extending the map to show earlier drives.

Here is the sol 792 drive map. A couple of names are queried as I am not sure which features they refer to. Most often they are close to the rover rather than distant features, but time will tell.

As if by magic, my uncertainty regarding feature name locations was resolved by the appearance of a map by Fred Calef at the MSL website. It is magic, isn't it? Or is this some form of weird electronic snooping?
Anyhoo... here's a map with better site and name locations. These uncertainties get cleaned up eventually as the PDS Analysts Notebook is updated, but it's really nice to get ahead of the game. Thanks! Phil -------------------- ... because the Solar System ain't gonna map itself.

Sol 797: we have returned to almost exactly the same position as on sol 753 at Confidence Hills.
