Arsia Mons Options

Check out the cool new Themis Arsia Mons mosaic. I suspect that as they finally work out calibration issues and irregularities between framlets, and as they fill gaps between image strips, we should see some really neat Themis projects in the coming years.

Does that look like clouds *inside* the crater?

That's diffuse ice-haze over the caldera. It's just "painted" onto the surface during the 3-d rendering. You'd have to have a MODIS multi-angle imaging spectroradiometer (whatever the instrument name is) like on the EOS Terra orbiter, looking vertcally and at up to 5 viewing angles fore and aft to really separate ice-hazes from surface features and locate their height in the atmosphere.
