There has been some recent developments concerning the fate of the Space Interferometry Mission, SIM. They are summed up in the following article on Space Review, authored by me.
http://www.thespacereview.com/article/1711/1/ As you can see in the Comments section, NASA is now in the process of shutting down SIM. This does not bode well for those who seek to study nearby Earth analogs. Phil H. |

The final, official eulogy for a promising mission that never was. I remember daydreaming over this mission's site 10 years back. Sigh.

For those of you interested in the SIM Earth-hunting observatory and its survival, check out 2 new websites.
The first is a blog dedicated to discussing and saving the SIM mission. It can be found here - http://savesim.blogspot.com/ The other site is an online petition that has as its goal the reversal of NASA's recent decision to cancel SIM. It can be found here - http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/save-SIM-Earth-Finder/ Please add your signature, as well as a comment. Phil Horzempa |
