the success of "Roving Mars" has everything to do with Squyres' amiable writing style -- that and the fact that he has a heck of a story to tell.

Doug:

Why don't you put up an Amazon link thingy on the site so we can buy via you, and help defray the board costs by doing so?

Actually - I setup stuff to do this - but the revenue is TINY and the banner adverts are just..huge, ugly and intrusive.

I'd like just a simple link, but seemingly that's too simple for amazon - I'm still looking though :0

I would agree that the book is very readable. I ended up starting and finishing it in one day, and it's nearly 400 pages long. Very much in the spirit of the NOVA show a few months back.

There is a text link at the bottom of that page to Amazon, looks like a referral type thingy....might be something similar to what you were looking for.

I pre-ordered with Amazon.co.uk and got mine on Tuesday this week- it's a brilliant read - can't put it down - the accompanying photos are good, particularly all the pre-launch ones.

My Barnes and Noble finally has it in stock and I bought mine today. I have it stashed away for a plane ride on Monday, but can barely resist peeking! It has been a long time since I anticipated enjoying a plane flight smile.gif

I will try to come up with some questions to submit in the "Best Question for Steve Squyres" contest

Got my copy within 5 days at amazon.uk !

It is great to read all about it. Everything's in there. The photo's before launch are great: did not see them before.....the history behind the project, the way Steve got into this, the many dissappointments on his way (it wasn't all that succesful before he got this job to be jealous of....) and, the extremely competitive environment he had to deal with before succeeding. And (very nice) the necessity of cooperating with his former competitors later on, that (in the end) set all the others behind. Not to speak about the tech. details on the project.

It's an absolute must have for anyone on this forum. And for anyone else that is interested in spaceflight. Buy it ! wink.gif
