A Tale of Two Rovers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does Cornell University's Steve Squyres, the principal investigator for the Mars Rover mission, believe there is life on other planets? "I don't have a belief regarding that question," Squyres said. http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=...id=216620&rfi=6 -------------------- "After having some business dealings with men, I am occasionally chagrined,
and feel as if I had done some wrong, and it is hard to forget the ugly circumstance. I see that such intercourse long continued would make one thoroughly prosaic, hard, and coarse. But the longest intercourse with Nature, though in her rudest moods, does not thus harden and make coarse. A hard, sensible man whom we liken to a rock is indeed much harder than a rock. From hard, coarse, insensible men with whom I have no sympathy, I go to commune with the rocks, whose hearts are comparatively soft." - Henry David Thoreau, November 15, 1853 |

I dont know if there will be another one. Depends if I can get to the US or Steve visits the UK again I'd like to interview Jim Bell actually - and Jake Matijevic as well. At some point in the not TOO distant future, perhaps 18 months or so - Helen and I will make a visit to the US and hopefully we'll be able to drop in and visit some people who made this whole experience possible. Doug Steve was in Honolulu jan 17-21 and I left Honolulu myself on jan 16th. So I missed his conferences by a day (too bad)...so he is moving Can we have an "alert" topic in this forum in order to know if Steve comes to Europe or elsewhere so we'll not miss him? -------------------- |
