Strange. Forbidden access to whole catalogs but not forbidden to individual images.

Hmmm... an hour and ten minutes after Peter's post, and I can get into Exploratorium, no problem. All of the folder listings are there when I go look.

How many people are having an issue?

The problem disappeared!

Crashed last nignt while I was looking at the latest pancam images. Looked at 7 or 8, then I started getting error messages. It wasn't my fault--honest unsure.gif

I made some calls and here's what happened:

Apparently tedstryk had been given custody of the Exploratorium server. It seems he pushed it up against a file cabinet with some other stuff in front of it and blocked the vents...

No updates at exploratorium since the 15th, could someone who knows who to contact let them know there is a problem.

Already done....about 5 days ago smile.gif

I was looking for some older Opportunity pancam images at exploratorium but the files from before July 24, 2008 don't seem to be accessible...if you click on the date link http://qt.exploratorium.edu/mars/opportunity/pancam/2004-01-25/ to the parent directory...never happened to me before...am I missiing something?
This doesn't happen with any other cam, neither from Oppy or Spirit...

Don't see this, but what I get when clicking on the links to e.g. 20 Jul 2008, 21, or 23 are just empty folders. But the directory corresponding to 22 Jul has data. huh.gif

Yes...precisely that, empty folders where you can find a link to the parent directory and yes...22 has data...missed that one...
Now...where did all "our" stuff went?! ohmy.gif

Strange behaviour of this great resource... huh.gif
We have some data available from sol 1678 with were downlinked less then 24h ago but none from 1676 for the time being. And those images from sol 1676, including a "post-drive" navcam mosaic, were downlinked during the weekend.

Do we think the Exploratorium is definitely a bit broken? I have people I can tell, but I'm only telling them if I can specify what the problem is.

Posted by: Tesheiner Oct 15 2008, 08:39 AM

I can give one example based on yesterday's (14th Oct) update:
Exploratorium has only four navcam images posted at 12:38PDT (19:38UTC ?) while the downlink session (16:10/17:20UTC) included four hazcam and six navcam full-frame pictures.

Posted by: ustrax Oct 15 2008, 09:16 AM

Doug, the problem I mentioned in post #12 still persists.

(This shouldn't go in the map thread!)

Exploratorium was updated late yesterday - check these pics:

Maybe you're seeing cached pages?

ADMIN: Moved to this thread. Note that a parts of the internet has been shaky since 'Sandy' and intermittent issues and website re-routing is being experienced worldwide.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the wrong thread.
Since a couple of days the connection to qt.exploratorium.edu isn't reliable from Germany, maybe from Europe. Lot's of packet misses during an active session, see the pings from my side:

This happens only for the exploratorium website !
For the site is hosted in San Francisco it can't be an effect of storm Sandy. Is this probably a more general problem ?

Regards, Udo

Update: My packets are routed through White Plains (New York) ! Therfore it might be a result of the probems they have in New York after Sandy ...
