Well, with the Spirit Rover doing it's detailed analysis at Low Ridge and slowly building it's McMurdo panorama, what better time to stroll down memory lane and open up the old photo album. So have a look at my favourite top 20 photos returned by the rover and enjoy!
I'm also working on a Best Of Opportunity page, with the idea of making the photo pages a tribute to not only the MER imaging team, but also to the many Mars imaging enthusiasts who have shared their talented, hard work with us.
The link is on my home page.
GREAT gallery of pictures aldo, brought back many happy memories! How far we've come...!!!
Stunning gallery. One slight typo - picture three has von Braun in the top left not top right of the picture - at least if my understand that von Braun is Pitchers Mound is correct.
I would add in the http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=2339
Great! Just great!
And Stu's words...There I go...Emotional again...
Yeeeesss! Very good and very good pictures!
When Opportunity pictures comes?
Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I noticed that typo at work. And I think I have to move the sun to the left in the sol 807 Low Ridge panorama.......Oh, yeah, and I agree about the Aviation Week photo, but I didn't want to get involved in copyright issues.
Ant103, hopefully the Opportunity page will be up in 2 weeks. I first actually want to include a page showing how the sol 813 sunset panorama evolved with each new posting.
Cheers,
Aldo.
Thanks, Ken! As easy as that, huh? I'll add it to the site tonight or tomorow night.
Nice work Aldo -looking forward to that Opportunity selection
Nico
Great selection Aldo ... Good You've added the Sunset ... the wheel-track photos are the best in my opinion ...
Hope to see these in Doug's book on the MER activities
Here's my page documenting the sol 813 Sunset panorama as it changed with each contributor's rendering. That truly was a special moment and is a testament to the sense of community that everyone brings here.

aldo,
EXCELLENT idea, very well put together. Gave me goose pimples scrolling down the page seeing the evolution of that image!
Makes you stop and think tho, doesn't it, about the wealth of talent here at UMSF. Again, thanks are due to Doug for bringing us all together - and to everyone who continues to make UMSF such a respectful and inspiring place.
Many thanks Aldo -and Stu! Can I HUG you guys? (beware of Ustrax )
don't know what else to say -let's get back to work!
Nico
Sorry about the typo, Doug. I was in a hurray before I went away for the weekend.
Ken, I should have the Opportunity up next weekend and I hope you'll be find some of those images a suitable addition to your talks......Here's a preview of one image I'm sure we're all familiar with. The one "little" change I did was that I extended the sky. But that alone has given it a grand, epic feel that makes me want to look at it over and over again.

Already keeping both eyes on the " Mars & Missions>MER\Opportunity " part of the forum

When the hell are we all getting together for a few drinks??!! It is gonna be one damn good party!!!
I think we could go for the Italian-American style of a brief man hug with two back slaps. You have to wear a leather jacket for full effect though.

I'd like to propose strict limits on the number of consecutive chorusses of the Philosophers Song.
Shaka,
Back on the topic (!). After I witnessed Spirit landing in Pasadena, I moved strait to Kauaii (for business ). A few days after I get there, the first colored picture was published so, I rushed to to my collegue proud to show them an unknown territory. You know what? They all shout : "but, it's Waimea canyon"..."it's next door". This very picture was not one of the 20 bests, but well, it reminded me to think to watch things from as many way as possible. By the way, where is the blue one between the red one and the yellow one. Mauaii ?

Yeah, Climb (mind if I call ya "Climb"?)
Sure! I like shorcuts to my dear humuhumunukunukuapu'a
You're standing up too close. Step back to about the orbit of Jupiter.
OK. As Galileo is no longer in orbit, I've no chance to break the Da Vinci Code
I'll have another try when NH will fly by
O.K. who has won eBay auction # 7766231315 ????
Photo looks a bit too purple ?
About time for an update of the favorite MER photo section ... or adding toward a Top 25 MER photos for each rover ?
