On Sept. 17th, Didier Favre of L.A. was photographing sunspot 0808 (Ex 0798) when a passing bird tried to steal the show. "Catch the sunspot if you can!" says Favre.

Another strange object was recently captured moving across the face of Sol:
http://www.nso.edu/press/holiday05/ISOON_Santa.jpg Happy Winter Solstice! -------------------- "After having some business dealings with men, I am occasionally chagrined,
and feel as if I had done some wrong, and it is hard to forget the ugly circumstance. I see that such intercourse long continued would make one thoroughly prosaic, hard, and coarse. But the longest intercourse with Nature, though in her rudest moods, does not thus harden and make coarse. A hard, sensible man whom we liken to a rock is indeed much harder than a rock. From hard, coarse, insensible men with whom I have no sympathy, I go to commune with the rocks, whose hearts are comparatively soft." - Henry David Thoreau, November 15, 1853 |

QUOTE (ugordan @ Dec 23 2005, 09:42 AM) It was taken from orbit as he was arcing over the North Pole. Either that or it's one heck of an unusual sunspot. -------------------- "After having some business dealings with men, I am occasionally chagrined,
