I was just nosing around the Athena site ploughing thru old bookmarks and stumbled across a new update from Steve - sounds like our plight as long suffering information junkies has been heard. Big thanks to Steve for taking the time to keep us updated - and long may they last!

Thanks for the link Doug.
The Methuselah story is prety interesting rolleyes.gif
He lived to be 969 years old, and was the grandfather of Noe (flood hint dry.gif )
Was the naming a coincidence ? tongue.gif
Anyway, I looked at Sol 454 pancams and was unable to locate it. Anyone else tried ?

"For Spirit, the big news is that we've interrupted our climb of Husband Hill to take a look at a fantastic new outcrop that we've named Methuselah. We just spotted Methuselah this past weekend, in some Pancam images that we took on Sol 454. It's a spectacular outcrop of layered rock, perhaps the best that Spirit has yet seen. It'll take a few sols of driving to get to it, but once we're there we're expecting to work it over pretty thoroughly. After 400+ sols in Gusev crater we've finally started seeing some real stratigraphy, and we think that Methuselah may have some very interesting stories to tell. "

I haven't visited that site in many months...I used to all the time up until the time the rovers landed then switched to the JPL/Exploratorium sites beacuse they had all the pictures smile.gif

So where's Methuselah?.......I guess it's not the feature they've ben parked in front of the past few days.

This is probably it:

Maybe we should move this to the Spirit section........

Go on, give us an idea. I won't ask for names for obvious reasons. Give us some general occupations perhaps? smile.gif
