During some of my holiday trips I have paid particular attention to Mars analogs. Some interesting examples follow.
Gullies, gullies everywhere - these are very common: A closeup of some of these gullies. As far as I know the stuff near their ends is brought there by avalanches of mud/rocks/water that occur periodically during spring thaws or are caused by extreme amounts of rain over a short period of time in the summer: Somewhat 'Phoenix-like' polygonal terrain: An overview of the polygonal terrain: Finally an older one showing rocky/sandy terrain: |

I found quite an interesting PDF about this. I wonder if there are any Google Earth or Worldwind markers out there showing locations of Mars analogs ? I searched in the usual places but nothing turned up.

I'll be visiting the 'Mars Hill' in Death Valley in March. LOTS of Photos.
