QUOTE (ilbasso @ Jul 7 2005, 08:52 AM) I was disappointed when the final episodes of both Star Trek and Star Wars came out within 10 days of each other in May! I wouldn't count the Star Trek franchise as dead yet. Just because Enterprise ran for a shorter run than was originally planned doesn't mean that Paramount isn't looking into developing more Star Trek series and films. The franchise is worth millions of dollars even when there are no productions in process... and there are any number of directions they could take with new Star Trek projects. I'd be very surprised if we never see another Star Trek film or series again. -the other Doug -------------------- “The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right.” -Mark Twain

QUOTE (Phil Stooke @ Jul 5 2005, 10:42 PM) Wow... does that bring back memories. I think it was XL5 that REALLY got me hooked on Spaceships. Guess I was 7 or 8 when it ran in the early 1960's in the U.S. Those of you who recall XL5 might find this quite nostalgic. I can still see the ship speeding down the launch rail... So: Is *nobody* other than yours truly going to WorldCon in Glasgow?
Am I the *only* representative of our august assemblage? Pity, that... -------------------- Remember: Time Flies like the wind - but Fruit Flies like bananas!

I used to attend Worldcon to sell art, but Burning man is far more adventerous and interesting. Sadly, I don't expect to make it this year. The previous one was also an excellent occassion to observe dust devils. a little of which can be seen at: http://www.donaldedavis.com/BM04WEB/BM04pt5.html Don |

Don [/quote] Don: Sadly, the Real Bob Shaw died not long after the last Glasgow WorldCon, leaving just myself - the Fake Bob Shaw (as I am known). I'm not the only doppleganger out there in UK fandom, either! I did speak to Richard Burton (no relation) last night, though - and without a Ouija Board! Ray Bradbury (no relation either!) doesn't seem to be there - I only ever see him at Birmingham events.
