Presenting Doug's hand crafted 30th birthday cake :

Bigger version here
Trench detail
Blueberry detail

It is - of course - the martian surface with the trench dug by Phoenix to reveal the ice below, and ratted blueberries down the many martian rock layers down the side. Yeah! Goes without saying!!

The conversation went like this :
Him : "Ooh cake!... ooh, it's got a divot in it....did you mean to do that?"
Me : "Er that's meant to be the trench that phoenix dug...it's from Helen's martian surface cakes limited"
Him : "oh"
Me : "clearly you know nothing about Mars whatsoever, you fraud..."

I might have made that last bit up...

Anyway I enjoyed making it - I hope you enjoy looking at it - if anyone wants a piece please post your name and address below and we will pop some in the post*

I do commissions!!!

Helen

Actually what is nice to see is that at least one "other-half" of the members here actually takes the time to read and understand what goes on here. Instead of, "Oh that's nice, I guess. As long as you are enjoying yourself, but we still do need things from the store whenever you get away from that computer."

Good to see that something Phoenix-related made it into an oven... laugh.gif

That's a work of art Helen, and a lovely gesture.

That is totally BRILLIANT!!

Hey, and maybe Doug can wash it down with "simulated Titan cryomagma" (i.e. a Margarita).

...while wearing a sombrero...you can't have a bad time when you are wearing a sombrero....

Cheers! And happy 30th!!

Last year she downloaded, printed and built the paper MER model, but then went the extra mile, found an image of the back of the HGA, and added that - and put it on a cake, with Mars rocks etc smile.gif THAT's dedication.

I'm rather lucky. She didn't mind me going all giggly-girly at seing the holder of the Diesel Land Speed Record ( www.jcbdieselmax.com ) at the Heritage Motor Museum today smile.gif

blink.gif ...whoa!!! First time I've ever stared at a piece of Mars & gotten hungry! True art, Helen, very well done indeed!!! smile.gif

Lemurs, huh? Doug, you sure are lucky that your spouse indulges you by letting you play with monkeys; obviously, she thinks you are a prime mate!

(Yep...if that don't get me shot, nothing will...)

No, wait, the cake is a lie!! smile.gif

Hang on, at about 30 degrees to the right on the trench detail, isnt that a little piece of wood?

Blueberry detail indeed, ha!
