There is a rapidly brightening Nova in Delphinus right now - 20:23:30.7, +20:46:06
Was at mag 6 last night - now clearly brighter than the mag 4.8 star near to it, and brightening still! |

Thanks for the heads-up - literally - almost directly overhead! Easy to see with binocs in suburban skies despite thin high altitude clouds. I found the top chart here very useful. Look for the wide parallelogram of stars pointed to by Sagitta; the nova is the lower right hand one.

Go to the plot of observed brightness at the AAVSO site.
The url is way too long, but you can find a link at Sky and Telescope's article.... http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/h...-219631281.html I like checking the curve every few hours to see if it's still brightening - so far it's estimated to be passing through 4th magnitude. |

Nova Del 2013 is starting to dim.
I have a photo with the nova - looking like one of the many Milky Way stars, but a little brighter - at my Heads UP! blog http://bkellysky.wordpress.com/ . Here's the latest plot of brightness from the AAVSO.... |
