It sure looks to me like there are iced-over craters in this image of Kasei Vallis: http://themis.asu.edu/zoom-20050419a.html

QUOTE (Sunspot @ Apr 29 2005, 11:08 PM) Some great views of Kasei Valley from Odyysey http://themis.asu.edu/zoom-20050429a.html This is one of quote an extensive set of images covering this feature. Thanks for finding this. Great image. Looking at the "river delta" region flowing out of this canyon I can't help but notice the drop in cratering rate compared to the surrounding terrain. The area of this "delta", has far fewer and much smaller craters than the immediate surrounding areas not subject to flow. Even the regions of likely ongoing mass wasting at the base of the surrounding cliffs have more and larger craters. It would be interesting for the crater-counting folks to weigh in on just how recent this site may have experienced flowing liquids to account for the younger looking terrain. -------------------- If Occam had heard my theory, things would be very different now.
