After its successfull launch on 2 March 2004, the spacecraft will fly by (2867) Steins in September 2008 at a distance of 1745 km with a relative velocity of 8.5 km/s

Cool, another asteroid explored from a close distance!

And yet another to come afterwards. Rosetta will flyby 21 Lutetia in July 2010. Lutetia will be the largest asteroid visited by spacecraft until Dawn reaches Vesta in 2011.

Of course, we will be seeing the first images from the Steins flyby shortly before NH reaches Pluto, followed by several unprocessed, raw snapshots of Lutetia around the time NH makes its other KBO encounter...

WOW!
That means that Mars images taken this year will be released soon after the end of next year?

Well, we will probably get an image or two at the time of the flyby, but I agree with your time table for everything else.

In Astronomy & Astrophysics this week
Are the E-type asteroids (2867) Steins, a target of the Rosetta mission, and NEA (3103) Eger remnants of an old asteroid family?

Here's a snapshot of a poster presented at DPS, showing how they have determined the flyby location & distance for the Steins encounter. Neat stuff. --Emily
