Good morning, I’m Byron Jones and this is the Flight Director Report for Tuesday, July 12th.

On Spirit today is sol 542. Just over six times the length of our primary mission. She’s taken a break the last couple of weeks at the site Independent, which the science team has found very interesting and the engineering team has found very challenging. It’s been difficult for us to place the rock abrasion tool on the uneven surface there.

On the other side of Mars, it’s sol 521 for Opportunity. She spent the last few sols driving about 15 meters each on her way south towards the Erebus crater.

Well that’s it for today. Thanks for tuning in, I’m Byron Jones and that’s what’s happening on Mars today.
