Like most people I'm sure, I was impressed with the work of Phil Stooke and Dilo in recently pinpointing Opportunity's location using polar projection of panoramas side by side with orbiter imagery. I have a special request for Phil or Dilo, or anyone else interested in the challenge:

I am doing another write up for my site and I'm trying to get a handle on the strike and dip of the layered outcrops at West Spur. So i was hoping I could get someone to create polar projection stereo pairs (not anaglyphs) for these two panoramas from sol 271........

Left (3.5Mb): http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/gallery/pre...yp_L-A283R1.jpg

Right (4.5Mb):

Cylindrical projection with azimuth co-ordinates (3.9Mb):

........and re-size the 2m/pixel orbiter image on the link below to match the polar projections.

I realize it's a lot of work but I think it could help to tie in structures seen at Larry's Lookout, Methuselah and Voltaire.

Thanks in advance,
Aldo.
