Previous images led me -and others to visualize an easy downward route via the eastern slope..now it looks as though there is a gap preventing this and comparing with orbital anaglyphs I'm beginning to think "How the hell are they going to drive Spirit down?" unsure.gif the orbital images seem to allow a narrow (but how steep?) path towards the 'East Spur' but more images will reveal of course..

It looks to me at this time that the best option is via the 'terraces' we're seeing looking down the southflank of Husband Hill...

Oh wow! What a view. But my slow dialup connection will prevent me from seeing the critical lower parts until tomorrow. Thanks, but I must go to bed. I will dream of the parts that have not yet downloaded...

WOW ! Thank you for providing this quick assembly of such a beautiful view !
Just in time for the perfect "fix" for all of us thirsty for new images smile.gif

This view is so amazing that is deserves a colorization despite the missing filter color frames ... here is the result:

The colors looks little "artificially" but its OK.
Do you have it in bigger resolution?

Thank you, vikingmars for your flawless stitch. It is beautiful. Also, thanks for making me aware of the sol 591 images of the "geological promised land" that I didn't notice today. They are just what I needed for long-baseline 3D. Unfortunately the recent filters were only L7 and R1 which don't have the range of contrast I desire for a really effective anaglyph with the sol 583 images of the same area. Hopefully some L2R2 pairs will come down tomorrow...

The South Basin panorama (12x3, taken on sol 591) is sloooooowly coming down.
Some images are not yet on the ground and other ones have missing data. But once the download is complete I think it will be one of the bests for you, our forum artists.

Here is what was downloaded (on ch. L7) until now; the last two rows (at right) are still missing.
Attached Image

Edited: Just to avoid any misunderstanding... "one of the bests" is the shot taken by Spirit, NOT this horrible panorama attached.
