For people that don't have funny colored glasses or are not cross-eyed!
I doubt that flicker gifs will replace the more common 3D solutions, but the hilltop provides some great views. QUOTE (stewjack @ Sep 21 2005, 05:01 AM) The link works very well now , thank you ... and what a great way to display the dunes. I'll be showing these at my upcoming rover presentation at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia Pa on Oct 1. http://www.fi.edu/ I'm sure the kids (and adults) will love these and get an even clearer understanding of the mission and the beauty of the summit thanks, ken |

I hope to give a talk on the geology of Mars in February. I was thinkinig about buying about 50 red-green stereo glasses for the presentation. If they're not too expensive, I'd like to buy them here.

Well - I buy mine from...
http://www.imago3d.co.uk I have about 100 I use for my talks.. Red/Cyan Anaglyph Card Glasses Pack of 100 White. £41.11 inc V.A.T. For a big purchase like that, I'd just go and buy them from wherever you can get them. |

QUOTE (djellison @ Sep 21 2005, 08:36 AM) Does anyone know where I could order a pair of solid conventional r/b stereo glassees? These cardboard ones keep falling apart, and it doesn't help when my kids pick them up and run around with them or chew on them.

I suppose you could make your own from a cheap pair of reading glasses and colored cellophane from an art supplies shop. I've thought about doing this myself - do the red/blue lenses need to be any specific shade? The trick would be getting the cellophane attached to the lenses and stay flat.
Though if Doug puts together some UMSF glasses, I'd gladly order those -------------------- --O'Dave

When ordering a whole load for my talks - I just googled for anaglyph glasses and found a company that sell card ones by the 10,20, 50 and 100, and also plastic ones as well.
I'm sure a bit of goolging would find a supplier near to you. Doug |

QUOTE (odave @ Sep 21 2005, 09:47 AM) I suppose you could make your own from a cheap pair of reading glasses and colored cellophane from an art supplies shop. I've thought about doing this myself - do the red/blue lenses need to be any specific shade? The trick would be getting the cellophane attached to the lenses and stay flat. I've done this, but my result was poor. Single layers of colored cellophane don't inhibit enough of the light outside the desired color. So I tried using multiple layers, which helped chromatically but degraded clarity. The "flat" part was easy: I made frames out of rigid cardboard. When I snagged a pair from a National Geographic (re: Mars Pathfinder), I threw out the ones I made. Given that the problem was with the cellophane itself and not my poor craftmanship, you may find trouble making your own, too. |

Try using green instead of blue. Blue cellophane leaks too much light, but it's possible to find a good green.
As normally anaglyph images are displayed using red & cyan colors you can change blue for green. For me the picture quality increases this way and the feeling of disconfort is much less ;-) -------------------- _______________________

For my talks I've bought the red/cyan Anaglyphs from this company in Maryland and they have been very reliable. far superior to making them oneself
http://www.studio3d.com/pages2/store_glasses.html just 40 cents a pair for 50, even less for more they are very good quality, plain white cardboard with plenty of space for a sticker ken |
