I've just finished one of my Mars rover movies, this one using both front and rear cameras to show Spirit's climb up Columbia Hills, from Larry's Lookout to the Husband Hill summit. I know NASA and Midnight Browser have their versions, but I've come up with a new twist with my versions: I colourized my video to give it (I think) a more dramatic look. So check it out, enjoy the ride and I hope you like the accompanying music by a local band called Vegas Beach.

The Spirit sol 400-600 movie is on the homepage and on my videos page.

Cheers,
Aldo.

You've done a good job. I like the subtitles, and the colorization does make it look more dramatic, and somehow the semi-surf semi-jam music goes perfectly. The subtitles are slick.. Nice work.

At last, today my internet connection speed was/is ready again mad.gif to show the whole full res. video.

Thanks Aldo! Like such a reddish version too. The labeling of the targets is very helpful.

I've added another video to my site, this time a rear view from Spirit sol 400 to 600 as it climbed up Husband Hill.

It would be cool if you rectilinearized the movies. It maks it much easier to "read" the landscape.

Attached Image

as you can see the landscape looks more natural in the lower pair.

Yeah, Mattias, that'd be the ideal. Is there a program that could do a batch rectilinear conversion? There are just to many frames in the video to do it manually, one frame at a time.

I dont know Aldo, the pictures are pretty warped with such a rectilinear horizon. It's already (sometimes) "difficult" to find out where the Rover just drive along smile.gif

I use a macro that i made for shake but its possible to do it using various software.

On way is to use 3dsmax and map the images onto the inside of a sphere using "shrinkwrap" mapping. tile the image 2.92 times...

You could use panotools. (horizontal fov 122deg)

It would be übercool to make qtvr films.

i dont have the authoring software so i rendered this out of max...OppyMOVIE

Your wish is my command...

I took the front and the back hazcam and put them together into this little QTVRmovie:

OPPY QTVR

Its a lot easier than stitching all those navcam images.

That is cool. Can you do that with the 360 pans?
