On Sol 620, Spirit captured what IMO has to be one of the most scenic dust devils imaged so far: a beautifully visible dancing funnel extending high into the sky in front of the hazy Thyra Crater rim.
Beautiful b/w panoramas and anaglyphs containing this DD were already posted on the other thread. In the following image I did a further (subtle) enhancement on the dust devil (difference technique against the sky), vignetting correction and a hand colorization of the R1-filter frame.

Hi Nirgal, nice to see you back at work (vacations should be forbidden as long as the MERs are still working
As you've seen too, this DD is sadly exact in the region of the picture where we have to correct the vignetting. That make it difficult to get the DD. Because of seeing still vignetting in your image, I would you gladly animate to try Michael's anti-vignetting programm too, if you don't yet! My primary concern to download the RSI's IDL Virtual Machine were causeless. Until now I get only one advert mail from RSI http://www.rsinc.com/idlvm/ Only a proposal if you may. Ok, I hope to profit then too, of course. -------------------- |
