Nico,
Hurry up and finish that Everest pan, I got about 8 feet of wall that I want to cover with it. PS The Rasterbater doesn't quite do what I want, which is to take monster pans like this and break it up into appropriately sized chunks for 4"x5", 8"x10", or 16"x20" tiles, so I have to do it by hand. Does anyone know of any software that supports this? I've used Thumbs Plus before on one of the Endurance pans, but it was kinda painful. -------------------- Space Enthusiast Richard Hendricks

Outstanding contribution, Tman!!!
I was wondering why we couldn't see Ma'adim Valles in the recent panoramas and now I see that Ramon Hill is blocking the view (Az158-162 degrees)!! Remember how in one of Nico's panoramas we were able to see it: http://www.marsgeo.com/Spirit/Horizon.htm By the way, what was the source for the orbital mosaic of Gusev? I was never able to find one with that quality when I was searching for it. -------------------- |

Aldo, this whole Gusev crater image and the sharper part around Columbia Hills are from Nico's site. I doubled and sharped it, and matched they together.
Btw. on your site above, there where it shows the positions "1" and "18 - 20" (Ma'adim Valles port), I have second thoughts now. When I compare it with my recent gradicule, I get the conclusion they are all (nearly) inside the 170 to 180 degrees marks - so too far to the right. Therefore I guess the actual port was always blocking so far. What do you think? -------------------- |

I see what you mean. I'll try to have a closer look this weekend and try to figure out what points 19 and 20 correspond to.

QUOTE (hendric @ Oct 14 2005, 04:47 AM) Nico, Hurry up and finish that Everest pan, I got about 8 feet of wall that I want to cover with it. hendric, at this very moment I'm in an internet-cafe in Greece...I'm looking forward to finish it though as soon as I get home, especially since the location here sucks big time...but in a few days I'm off to Thira If you want to put it on your wall you should go to a local printshop and have it done on a plotter... I pay about 100 euros here for a full-res 360 on high-quality photographic paper...and about 70 euros for slightly lesser quality. about the entrance of the Valley, we won't be seeing the actual 'narrow' entrance I think, only the wide dip in the wall of Gusev marking the location of Downe and New Plymouth craters... Hi Nicolaos, do you already enjoyed the sweet (full) sun-ripened black olives?
Would gladly see these mosaics from Santorini... with your canon 10D, right? Have you (already) plotted such a full res. 27 x 3 pano (and on the wall)? It must be about 8 x 1 meters big!!! -------------------- |

Yeah Tman, they're big, though I haven't printed them that large but at about 1.8m x 0.7m.
Yes, I hope to get some decent time tomorrow on Santorini for the pan..it's only a 5-hour visit Nico - the olives are great btw! -------------------- photographer, space imagery enthusiast, proud father and partner, and geek.

Tman...You naughty naughty man...
Guess that panorama was the best update I could expect after this long absence. Thank you very very much!!! Hey NIX, Greece is outstanding isn't it? Don't miss the 360º pan from the Acropole, that sea of human presence is unmissable! -------------------- "Ride, boldly ride," The shade replied, "If you seek for Eldorado!"
