Program For 8->12 Bit Conversion

Attached is a Windows Forms utility for converting NASA/PDS images that have been compressed from 12-bit to 8-bit pixels using the approximate square root method. Three inverse (8 to 12-bit) mapping are provided: the two methods used on MER images, and the method used on Cassini images.

Unzip the two files (merlut.exe and PictureViewer.exe) to a directory, and double click on merlut.exe to launch.

Note: this program requires the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework, which is associated with the new Vista release, now in beta 2. The framework can be installed from:

.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86)
