http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/2005/11/...le/01fzmars.txt Wasn't sure the best place to post this, not being specifically mission-related, but it's significant and the seal-forming mud that formed reminded me of that "mud-like" soil patch Spirit found at Gusev after first landing, which Squyres called "bizarre." Just speculation of course, but worth noting. There were also the tiny "pore-like" openings seen in the soil which, as briefly covered in one of the early press briefings, could possibly have resulted from brines. Haven't heard anything else about that since yet though. A simple experiment, I'm surprised nobody did it before (using salty brine water instead of pure water)? Levin must be pleased though! Doug, what would you recommend for more general Mars-related posts like this, or would another subfolder perhaps be a possibility? |

Gil Levin was just right... years ago when he predicted that water was able to remain liquid on Mars even today. Here are some interesting links to his work : http://mars.spherix.com/ http://mars.spherix.com/spie2/spie98.htm ...And his ideas about Martian life are even stronger today ! http://mars.spherix.com/spie/SPIE2005GVL.pdf http://mars.spherix.com/spie/SPIE2005HVD.pdf Enjoy ! |
