Deep Space Station 54 at the Madrid DSN complex currently tracking the spacecraft is scheduled to track MUSES-C 'Hayabusa' until 13:05 UTC.

So that's up until 46 before re-entry. Unfortunately, as far as the schedule goes, Goldstone is not listed to track Hayabusa's last moments.

Canberra DSN's last track ended about 3 hours ago. By the time the spacecraft and capsule pass over our way, they'll be going so fast that the antennas are unable to slew fast enough to track them. The entry point will be below our horizon in Canberra (we miss it by 2 minutes!)

It struck me this morning that the whole Hayabusa story is a robot version of Apollo 13. What a pity this amazing tale will likely never be told properly in the English-speaking world because of the language barrier. I bet it would make an amazing book.

QUOTE
Just before the reentry, Hayabusa can be seen from Maldives.

It is difficult to see Hayabusa with the naked eyes, so please use telescope or binoculars.
Hayabusa goes into the shadow of the earth at six minutes before the reentry.

Everyone looked happy for a little while. Maybe the capsule powered up successfully.
