Thank You VikingMars, it has taken me exactly 30 years !
Among my latest additions are the " Aviation Week & Space Technology with MER on cover " and an original 1976 " Martin Marietta TODAY magazine with subtitle: Viking Intellect and Ingenuity Triumphant " I'm still searching NASA photos and Martin Marietta photos which show the Viking landers being assembled or being mated with the orbiters... It looks like those images were not scanned or put in any digital form ( I have about 20 images of the Viking landers & Orbiters being built & tested ) ... We're so happy to have the Internet these days Philip |

Nice collection, Phil. I may have missed it on your website but if you don't have it, you may also be interested in a compiled volume of the Viking papers from the September 1997 issue of the Journal of Geophysical Research. I can't believe, though, that it only costs $11.00. I thought I paid much more for it. On the other hand, I may be thinking about Chronology and Evolution of Mars: Proceedings from an ISSI Workshop, 10-14 April 2000, Bern, Switzerland.

Thanks for pointing it out Alex, I do have it ( 14th cover in the Viking section on the left side of the blog ). In fact I have some of the books twice, one always serving as reading copy
Nowadays I'm really looking forward to the release of some good DVDs ( MarsSociety is planning the release of The MarsUnderground ... and Spacecraft Films is considering to do several DVD sets on unmanned space exploration and I suggested them to do this per planet explored, so we might keep our fingers crossed and see the release of a 6-DVD set on Mars-exploration: 1 for the Mariners IV, VI, VII and IX, 1 for Vikings, 1 for Mars Pathfinder, 1 for Polar Lander + Climate Orbiter + MGS , 2 for MER ... wishful thinking for now ) |

Some recent and soon-to-be-available books:
Soviet and Russian Lunar Exploration (by Brian Harvey) published Dec. 2006 Russian Planetary Exploration History, Development, Legacy and Prospects (by Brian Harvey) was to be available Jan. 4, 2007 but Amazon.com (US) stills lists it only for pre-order Jane's Space Recognition Guide (by Brendon Gallagher) to be available April 1, 2007 (no fooling) might be similar to Jane's Aircraft Recogniton Guide(s) these are all listed at the US Amazon.com website for very reasonable prices |
