The 2006 conference starts today. What are some good questions to ask for someone who is attending?
One question I would like to see asked is in regard to the frost deposition proven to occur at least at the Meridiani site: Mars Rovers Spot Water-Clue Mineral, Frost, Clouds. http://www.physlink.com/News/121304MarsWater.cfm The frost was found in the local early morning, soon after sunrise. The frost had burned off by mid afternoon. This means the frost deposition occurred in the nighttime. My question is could the rover be commanded to cover some portion of the ground at night after the maximum deposition has occurred and keep it covered until early morning? Then we could uncover the area immediately after sunrise to get a view of how large the deposition gets. If the deposition is large, say in the hundreds of microns range, then since there have been found abundant salts in the surface, we might expect some of this water to become visible as liquid water brines because of the freezing point lowering effect of salts. - Bob Clark |
