This image, taken by the High Resolution Stereo Camera on board ESA's Mars Express, shows Pavonis Mons, the central volcano of the three shield volcanoes that comprise Tharsis Montes. I have seen images of this region, then in black and white before and with all those lines I tended to think that Percival Lowell would have loved those wiggly lines.
But yes even I understood they had a volcanic origin, nice you posted so I got that thought of mine confirmed. |
