IIRC, the Voyager 1 and 2 narrow angle cameras had a resolving capability of 4 arcseconds (seems amazing to me still).
I have not seen a comparable spec for other spacecraft missions. Just lots of references to focal length of the lens which doesn't really translate to anything I can reckon. And figuring them would be tricky without knowing the dimensions/pixel count of the new solid state cameras detectors and comparing them to the vidicon technology of the past, let alone the film based system used on the Lunar Orbiter series and several Soviet era missions. Is there a fairly exhaustive reference somewhere for this? I am curious as to how the DI camera stacks up with some of the older missions and the NH camera. Thanx if anyone has anything on this. |
