The walls of Gusev Crater stand out with striking clarity in this NavCam image from Spirit:

Im pretty sure Its Gusev, it's also visble in this PanCam mosaic.

I think the long flat feature visible above the horizon but below Gusev are the mesas you mention.

Which of pancams filters will give the best view of distant features on the the horizon? The navacm image shows abundant detail which is not seen in the blue filtered pancam images.
