In some places of Europe the shuttle will be visible very well in the sky few minutes after the launch!
In nothern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, southern Germany, France, Czech Republic. In Spain I think that the sky will be too bright. Anyway.. take a look at calsky.com ! Visible passes Ale |

It's an unusual thing really - all these hundreds ( thousands in the case of Soyuz ) of discarded stages...they'd make interesting projects for a philathopist with a penchent for oceanic study and space memorabillia :0
