Hi this is Jeff Fabretto and this is the Flight Director report for the Mars Exploration Rovers, September 29th 2004. Both vehicles are healthy, we’re actively doing science on Mars and Opportunity is still in the crater, it’s still milling about in there and probably gonna be there for another week, possibly more, doing science before it decides to leave the crater. But what I have to talk to you about today is Spirit and the image I’m gonna show you is an image where we used this to analyse the tilt of the area, remember we’re going up this hill. And we use this image to say, hey how are we tilted and if we’re tilted in a particular way, we’re facing the sun with our solar arrays, we’re gonna get better power. So we plan our drives based on these images and what you’ll see is red sections and blue sections and we wanna stay away from the red sections, we wanna go into the blue sections. And when we’re sitting in the blue section, we’re gonna get more power so we can do more science for the day, we can drive longer the next day.
And that’s the Flight Director report for today, thank you very much.
